It is illegal to own or posses a stun gun in:
Hawaii
Rhode Island
U.S. Virgin Islands

Stun guns are legal for civilian self-defense in the other 48 states as long as you are not a minor, do not have any felony record and only use it for self defense.

OK, OR, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WI, WV, WY and Puerto Rico

IN WHAT STATES IS PEPPER SPRAY LEGAL?

Pepper spray is legal, In all 50 states, if you are over the age of 18 and have not been convicted of a felony or an assault, pepper spray is legal for you to possess in quantities less than 1/2oz. with certain other restrictions in the following states:

Alaska- Legal with restrictions: Pepper spray container must be less than 5 oz.

Arkansas- Legal with restrictions: Pepper spray container must be less than 5 oz.

California-Legal with restrictions: Pepper spray container must be less than 2.5 ounces

Florida- Legal with restrictions: Cannot carry a pepper spray container larger than 2 ounces.

Hawaii-Legal with restrictions: Pepper spray container cannot be larger than than 1/2 oz. License required. License Required.

Massachusetts- Legal with restrictions: Must be non-felon over 18 to purchase. Legal to carry and use for self defense. Cannot ship sprays used against humans through the mail to the state. Animal sprays, such as Dog Repellent are legal.

Michigan-Legal with restrictions: Pepper spray container cannot exceed 1.2 oz. Cannot contain more than 18% oleoresin capsicum (OC) or 1.4% MC.

Nevada- Legal with restrictions: 2 oz container limit on CS tear gas, pepper spray is exempt.

New Jersey- Legal with restrictions: Must be non-felon over 18 to purchase. Not legal to over 3/4 fluid ounce of spray.

New York- With restrictions: Must be non-felon over 18 to purchase. Legal to carry and use for self defense. Cannot ship sprays used against humans through the mail to the state. Animal sprays, such as Dog Repellent are legal.

North Carolina- Legal with restrictions: When carrying for protection against people, container cannot be larger than 5 ounces.

Washington- Legal. Can carry pepper spray starting at age 14 with parent permission.

Wisconsin-Legal with restrictions: Pepper spray container cannot exceed 2 oz. Spray cannot contain more than than 10% OC (oleoresin capsicum) or 1.2% MC.
